Sizing
What length shoelaces do I need?
Count the eyelet pairs on one shoe. 30 inch for 2–3 pairs, 45 inch for 4–6, 55 inch for 6–8, 65 inch for 8–10. Those ranges overlap on purpose — the most accurate method is to pull out a lace you already own, lay it flat and measure it end to end including the tips.

Why aren't your lengths the standard 36, 48 and 63 inch?
Our lengths were set around how our flat lace actually sits in the shoes people buy them for, not around an inherited standard. If you're used to 48 inch laces our 45 is closest, with a slightly smaller bow. If you're used to 63, our 65 gives you a little more to work with.

What size do your tees and hoodies run?
Unisex adult sizing, classic fit, S through 2XL. If you're between sizes, size up on the hoodie and stay true on the tee. Full flat measurements are in the apparel guide.

What length do kids' shoelaces need?
Start at 30 inch for 2–3 eyelet pairs. Toddler shoes vary a lot, so measure the original lace rather than choosing by age. For 4–5 pairs on a child's shoe, 45 inch is the next step up.

Products & Materials
What are the laces made of?
Every Spiffy lace is flat and made from 100% recycled materials, with the design printed directly onto the lace.
Will the print wear off?
The design is printed into the lace rather than sitting on top of it. Normal wear won't peel it.
How are the shirts and hoodies printed?
Each design is drawn by a human artist, digitized, then printed as a DTF transfer and heat pressed into the garment. It sits in the fabric, stays flexible, and won't crack or peel the way thick plastisol does.

Is the hoodie drawstring really a shoelace?
Yes. The stock cord is pulled out and replaced with a pair of our printed recycled laces, so you can swap it for any other design in the shop whenever you want.
Lacing
How do I lace my shoes so the print shows?
Straight bar lacing. It gives you full unbroken horizontal bars instead of chopped diagonals, which is the only way a printed lace reads clearly. It eats slightly more lace than criss-cross, so size up if you're borderline.

My laces keep coming untied.
A new flat lace starts with a smooth weave, so it takes roughly ten ties to settle. Double knot them for the first week. If your bows twist down the side of the shoe rather than sitting square, you're tying a granny knot — cross the second loop the opposite way from the first.
